Getting Healthier

Because many of you were asking a lot of questions after I posted a picture on instagram...

Landon and I eat fairly healthy. I cook often and we hardly ever eat out. In January, I found a blog that documented the 30 day paleo challenge. I've never been one to worry about what I was eating, I just have always liked fruit and vegetables...and other yummy things (cheese dip, dr. pepper, candy, etc.). Over the last year, Landon has really been researching and learning more about the foods we eat and had recently read Deep Nutrition: Why Your Genes Need Traditional Food. Which reminds me...I need to finish reading...

After reading that blog, talking with LT, and becoming really curious about what changes could really happen, we started the 30 day paleo challenge on February 1st. This was not to lose weight. This was to make better eating choices and get into a habit of eating better things.

After 30 days...we LOVE it. We both saw a lot of changes in body shape...which means we both had excess nastiness hanging out!

Yes, it is tough initially. No, we had no milk, cheese, or sugar for 30 days and are both still alive! Yes, it is more expensive (but just like budgeting, it will take a few weeks to get the hang of shopping this way)

No, I could not have done this by myself! Having a partner to lean on was exactly what I needed. I'm pretty sure LT would tell you the same thing!

Now that our 30 days are up, we do plan to cheat some. But those cheats will be few. Mainly when just eating out.

During the 30 days, I got most of our meals from the 30 day challenge. These were good for the initial cleanse.

I made these this week for life group, Brownie Pie Bites. They were AMAZING!

Warmer weather...finally!

Unlike my husband...I like warm Arkansas spring weather (not hot summer weather). I have been so cold over the last few months and have been itching to spend some time outside with P. The weather was finally warm enough this week to take Peyton and some of his toys outside.

We now have an outside lover. I feel like he is officially all boy now! He loved it and now asks to go outside often by standing by the back door.

He was not quite sure about the grass at first.  It was very dry and pokey. It was hilarious watching him walk and fall then proceed to try and get up without his hands touching the grass. Needless to say, after a little bit he figured out he was going to have to put his hands down and get over it. Now...if I can keep him from eating pieces of grass!

This stinker loves the slide!

I am looking forward to many more days outside getting some great vitamin D with this boy!

Peyton is 1!

This is about a month late, but I thought I would give this blog thing a try so that I could keep memories for our family.

What more does a 1 year old want than cookies and milk? So, why not a cookies and milk party! I got so excited thinking about Peyton's first birthday party.  I knew I didn't' want anything over the top. So we stuck with cookies, milk, and hot chocolate. With three sets of Grandparents, a couple Great-Grandparents, nine Aunts and Uncles, and two cousins the boy was set on attendees!

My sister-in-law, Erin, and niece, Nataee,  came down from Joplin a couple days early to help with the baking. We made chocolate chip cookies, snicker doodle cookies, funfetti cupcakes, and crock pot hot chocolate.
These are the best sugar cookies I have ever eaten! They are from a bakery in Pittsburg, KS and are to die for!

Birthday boy! He was not sure what to think about everything going on in the beginning, but he ended up having a blast!

Pictures of P throughout the year.

Lots of family and close friends came to show their love to our baby boy!

Meet Peyton's future girlfriend, Eden. It's already been arranged!

He was so proud of his new slide from Nana and Papaw! He gets so happy with himself when he climbs up the stairs.

The best family picture we could get. P was ready to dive in.

He loved his cake! Needless to say, he loves sugar (who doesn't!?).

Peyton Scott we love you so much! You have blessed our lives in so many ways. We thank God for you everyday! You are so happy and have the biggest personality just like your Daddy. You are a major Mama's boy and I love it! We are looking forward to so many more memories with you as you grow. Thank you for making us parents!
